Frequently asked questions
NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a national-level medical entrance exam in India for students aspiring to pursue MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical courses in top medical colleges. It is the only medical entrance exam for admissions in government and private institutions.
Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET UG is the single gateway for admissions to medical programs across the country, replacing multiple state-level and institutional exams to streamline the process.
The exam typically takes place annually, with the 2025 edition expected to follow a similar timeline to previous years, likely in May or June, though exact dates would depend on NTA's official announcement.
To be eligible for NEET, a candidate must:
- Be at least 17 years old at the time of admission.
- Have completed or be appearing in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as mandatory subjects.
- Have secured a minimum of 50% marks in PCB for General category (40% for SC/ST/OBC).
